چکیده
The surgical CO2 laser unit and laser bronchoscope were presented which were originally developed under a close co-operation with Asahi Optical Company and our department. The CO2 laser unit has a maximum power output of 30 Watt and can be used in two ways : in gross surgeries with the use of handpiece and in microsurgeries using the micromanipulator. The laser bronchoscope was designed to applied to the laser irradiation on the disease of traclieo-bronchial system. The clinical applications were discussed among the 118 cases of head and neck tumor operated by laser .

Comparing the Efficacy of Temperature-Controlled Radiofrequency Tonsil Ablation versus CO2-Laser Cryptolysis in the Treatment of Halitosis
Introduction: Halitosis and foreign body sensation are two common and disturbing symptoms of chronic caseous tonsillitis (CCT). The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of temperature-controlled radiofrequency (TC-RF) tonsil ablation with CO2-laser cryptolysis (CO2-LC) in the treatment of patients with halitosis caused by CCT. Materials and Methods: Sixty-two patients who ...
متن کاملStudy of Co2 Laser in Otolaryngology at Gmers Medical College, Sola, Ahmedabad
Aim: Aim of our study was to compare the surgical otolaryngology cases (vocal cord lesions, dacryocystitis, tonsillitis, and oral cavity growth) operated with laser and with conventional technique. Methods: 89 patients were reviewed. Laser was used in 50 cases. Results: We found that postoperative pain and intraoperative bleeding was less in patients operated with laser technique. Haemostatis w...
متن کاملOpen Access Atlas of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Operative Surgery Transoral Laser Microsurgery (tlm) of Cancers & Other Pathology of the Upper Aerodigestive Tract
CO2 laser is used to resect or vaporise benign and malignant lesions of the upper aerodigestive tract. This chapter focuses on transoral CO2 laser technique using a micromanipulator attached to an operating microscope. The advantages of using CO2 laser with an operating microscope are microsurgical precision, excellent intraoperative detail, and a dry surgical field; the functional outcomes in ...
متن کاملParaglottic and Pre-epiglottic Space Abscess in Adults: Report of Two Cases
Introduction: Acute epiglottitis or supraglottitis is a rapidly progressing upper respiratory tract infection that can often threaten the airway patency. Epiglottic abscess that expands to the paraglottic (PGS) or preepiglottic (PES) space and acute airway obstruction constitute rare complications, exclusively presented in adults. Case Report: We report two cases. In t...

Methods: LSSR was conducted employing two different laser systems: a) CO2 laser, articulated arm with nasal hand-piece / wave guide, or b) 980nm diode laser with fiber delivery system. The surgical technique includes direct transmucosal ablation of anterior or posterior cartilaginous spurs without incisions, mucoperichondrial flaps, therefore eliminating the need for post-op packing. The laser ...
